Läderach - Swiss chocolate

We visited the show-factory of Läderach in Bilten (canton Glarus). It's a rather small one but the fresh chocolate you can buy in it's shop is worth a visit if you are nearby (skiing in Flumserberg or having a family trip to Heidiland).

"Beigli" - Walnut and poppy seed roll

Beigli is a typically eaten at Christmas. You can find it on each Hungarian table at Christmas time.

One of the women in the choire I'm singing in has a Hungarian husband and therefore she learned to make Hungarian dishes. She baked beigli and thanks to her we can eat it.

Fingerfood

A nice way to attract potential customers to go and see the winter/Xmas collection of Interio is to organise an "apero", offering fingerfood and drinks. It actually did work, I've never seen that many people in Interio.

Oktoberfest

For those Swiss who can't make it to Germany, the famous Bavarian Oktoberfest came to Switzerland. To the small town Baden as well. We thought that during lunchtime it won't be that wilde and we were right. The opening sentence we said to the security guard that we have a table reserved for us resulted in a big smile on his face. Almost all tables were empty ...

If wee wadnt to look authentic it was possible to rent cloths - Drindl for women, leather trousers and shirts for men.

Nippon Sushi Bar, Zürich

This is only half of the sushi menu we had tonight at the Nippon Sushi Bar in Zürich. A huge but totally delicious portion.

Lángos

While walking through the small streets of Zürich downtown, the special, very characteristic smell of "lángos" (a Hungarian speciality) approached us. We shortly followed our nose and there it was. A Swiss woman was making and selling "lángos" at the speciality market on Rosenplatz. We couldn't resist the smell and the temptation, though the way she was working with the dough was far away from the way it is made in Hungary - she was sticking the smaller pieces together on the table instead of moving the portion of dough around in the air similar to how the pizza dough is made. The taste was almost authentic, the consistency by far not. Anyway, it is nice try from a Swiss lady to make a Hungarian speciality.

The cheese-stamping machine

The most well-known cheese from Switzerland. One whole cheese weighs in average 100 kg and to get 1 kg cheese 12 liters of milk are needed. 150 family run businesses in the valley of the river Emme are certified Emmental cheese producers. All the milk comes from the valley and the cows only eat grass and hay during the winter.

Lindt factory outlet

If we run out of chocolate we go to the Lindt factory outlet without hesitation. If you live near Zürich, I highly recommend the place - it's heaven for those who love chocolate as I do.
