"The big knit"

This year almost 200.000 little caps were made by volunteers and put on the Innocent smoothies within the frames of "The big knit" (Das grosse Stricken). By buying one Innocent smoothie with a cap, you have to pay extra and this money goes then to the Pro Senectute, an organization to support seniors.

I was surprised that not only women but men also like to knit - check out some of them here.

Last days

The old couple is going to the well deserved retirement and 2 younger men are taking over the small shop in our neighbourhood.

Sechseläuten Platz

After long months of construction works the square is handed over to the public with a week long opening ceremony and free concerts in the evenings. First night - Jazz night.

Clean-Up-Day

With a couple days delay, but clean-up-day arrived to Baden as well. One class from my daughter's school was cleaning up a hillside between the train station and the river Limmat. It is a relatively small area, covered with trees (actually it is a forest). You would think that Switzerland is a tidy country. Maybe because littering is not on the streets where it is visible but in unvisible places ... The kids found 7 shopping trolleys and 2 traffic signs as well. It is all exhibited at the beginning of the pedestrian street near the train station.

Expat Expo Zürich

Expat Expo is the place for English speakers in Switzerland to find goods and services, like doctors, lawyers, schools, clubs and churches, special food items and many more.

My personal favourites are Ribizli (baking and cake decorating workshop, pictures above), Hobtime.com ("the easiest way to organize and find activities") and the hand analysis by Earth School.

Little hats

One can help old people by knitting tiny little hats, sending them in and Innocent Drinks pays 50 rappen after each bottle with hat sold to the Pro Senectute foundation (in Switzerland). The initiative is called Das grosse Stricken (The Big Knit).
